I am a nurse employed at the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia SC. My formative years were lived in Lancaster, SC, so not far from my roots. Grew up in a what I suppose was a lower middle class family; both parents employed by Springs Mills. Have been a reader all of my life, a wide variety of genres, but I tend to science fiction, horror, and thrillers. Solid childhood that engendered a love of baseball first, then football, and basketball. Lifelong Gamecock and New York Yankee, I follow both pretty closely through the year; I know that I love baseball, because I forgive it the offenses (drugs, vulgarity, etc.) that dampen my enthusiasm for other sports. Serving in the USAF during the 1970s, I was able to spend a year in Thailand and get exposure to a wider range of music and people,
My work at the VA over the past ten years has been relevetory concerning the effects of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and how many of our veterans live just above or below the poverty line. Why we allow this to exist as broadly as it does while the rest of us fawn over some two-bit celebrity is a running theme for this blog. Nursing topics, baseball, books, music and film will be roundtable participants, as well. My awakening to Reformed theology as an Associate Reformed Presbyterian should be a constant underlying theme that I hope bubbles to the surface. Welcome!
